  • Ken May, Senior pastor

    Ken and Lisa May joined the First Family in 2015. They have pastored in Dallas, Richardson, Kingsville, and Decatur before coming to Stephenville. Ken attended Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Ken and Lisa have three sons and four grandchildren. Pastor Ken also serves as Chaplain for the Stephenville Police Department and on the Texas Baptist Executive Board. Family is a major priority for the Mays. Ken loves reading, writing, getting together with people, discipling one on one and in small groups, as well as trains, art and antiques, and Star Wars.

  • Kevin Allen, minister to children & Young Families

    Kevin is married to Lauren and they have three children.  Originally from Kansas City, Kevin studied Christian Theatre at Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal, Missouri and received his Master of Arts in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He enjoys camping, movies, board games, treasure hunts, and any other activity that makes memories with his family.

  • Jonathan Cherry, Minister to Youth

    Jonathan is married to his high school sweetheart Anna, and they have 5 children. A Texas native,

    Jonathan grew up in Alvarado and spent 9 years in student ministry in nearby Grandview. Jonathan received an undergraduate and master’s degree from Texas A&M University. He enjoys game nights with the family, tracking local and professional sports teams, throwing frisbees and challenging teens to live for Jesus.

  • Matt Mabry, minister to university

    Matt came on staff in 2014 as the University Minister. Matt and his wife Rachel are both graduates of Tarleton State University, and he is a graduate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Matt and Rachel have two kids, Lincoln and Lucy. He enjoys hunting, fishing, sports and traveling!

  • dick carroll, minister to sr. adults/pastoral care

    Dick has been part of the First Baptist team since 2015. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Palm Beach Atlantic University. He also received a Master of Divinity in Missions/Evangelism and a Master of Arts in Christian Communications from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as an Army Chaplain’s Assistant, Bible teacher in Austin, ESL teacher in China, Minister of Missions/Discipleship at Fairview Baptist in Austin, Pastor of Pond Springs Baptist Church in Austin, and as a missionary - head of the Bible Department in Eumseong South Korea. He is married to Sherry and they have served together in ministry since 1988. Dick’s hobbies are reading, acting, drawing, and collecting swords.

  • diane brooks, Executive Assistant to the Pastor

    Diane graduated from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth and completed a business course at Brantley-Draughon Business College in Fort Worth. She is married with three children, one daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.  She loves being a mother and grandmother.  Diane also enjoys Jigsaw puzzles, sewing, crocheting, and crafting.

  • sherry carroll, grace place director

    Sherry has been serving with Grace Place at First Baptist since 2016. She has a Bachelors degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a Masters degree from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, University of Texas at Arlington, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Sherry has worked as the Director of three other non-profits/ministries before Grace Place; as well as serving as a Journeyman missionary for two years in Lusaka, Zambia; and serving with her husband as a missionary in South Korea for seven years. Sherry has been married to her husband Dick since 1988.

  • mike echols, media/IT director

    Mike has been a part of the First Baptist team since 2006.  He began his career at FBC as the Music Ministry Assistant before assuming the role of the Media and IT Director in 2012.  Mike is married to Alecia, and they have two children, Audrey and Grayson.  He received his Bachelor's of Business degree from Tarleton State University in 2005.  He has a love for music and has played the fiddle with various bands over the past several years.  Other interests include spending time with his family and playing golf.

  • kathy felts, receptionist/Financial assistant

    Kathy has been a part of the FBC Team since 2010, coming to us from a sister Church in Stephenville.  She has been in Church work for 26 years and knows, without a doubt, that the Lord called her to serve in the Local Church setting. Kathy, serving as the FBC Receptionist, loves people in general and enjoys visiting with them whether in person or on the phone. She also loves working with numbers and enjoys working as an Assistant to the Finance Manager. Kathy has a Son and a seven year old Granddaughter, that are her world!! Kathy has a great love for playing the piano and listening to all types of music. Her hobbies include cooking, crafts, going antiquing, and traveling.

  • kathryn jones, ministry administrative assistant

    Kathryn is from Allen, Texas but moved to Stephenville In 2014 to begin her Freshmen year at Tarleton State University. During her time at TSU, she was involved in the college ministry and served at FBC. In 2016, she began interning at the church with the University Ministry. Kathryn graduated from Tarleton in May of 2018 with a degree in Special Education, but knew she was called to ministry and that her time in Stephenville was not yet over.  In 2019 she was hired on to work full time with the college ministry and loves every minute of it! Beyond ministry, she loves traveling, spending time with friends and family, and finding any and every excuse to go to the mountains.

  • shelley thompson, kinderbridge director

    Shelley believes that children learn best when they are having fun! Her goal as director is to make sure opportunities to explore and learn are provided in each child’s unique learning style so that they will learn and grow while enjoying each day at preschool.


    Shelley is a graduate of The University of Iowa and has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for over twenty-five years. Shelley began as Director of Kinderbridge Preschool in 2005.


    Shelley and her husband of forty years enjoy long walks, traveling to new places, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and attending college sporting events.
